
Fiona J. Hinds is an Attorney-at-Law in Barbados having been admitted to practice law in 1993. She joined the Law Firm of Carrington & Sealy as an Associate Attorney-at-Law in 1998 and became the Partner with responsibility for the Intellectual Property Group in 2001. Ms. Hinds is specialized in the area of Intellectual Property law and in particular deals with copyright and trademarks together with issues arising under the law of Passing Off and the Laws dealing with Confidence. She became the Partner with responsibility for the Intellectual Property Group in 2001, and was admitted to the Inner Bar in 2018.
Academically, Ms. Hinds attained her Bachelor of Laws degree with Upper Second Class Honours from the University of the West Indies in 1991, and obtained her Legal Education Certificate at the Norman Manley Law School in 1993. She also holds a Master of Laws degree in Commercial Law and Intellectual Property from the University of London, conferred in 1997 with Merit and has been awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in UK, EU & US Copyright Law from Kings College, University of London.
She is a member of the International Trademarks Association based in the United States of America and the Institute of Trademarks Attorneys based in England. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Commission of the Government of Barbados, which body has been commissioned to review and amend the Intellectual Property laws to comply with international standards.
